My Approach

My therapy practice is collaborative, client-centred and rooted in empathy, curiosity and respect for the diversity and uniqueness of each client’s experience.

I work primarily from a psychodynamic framework and draw on a variety of interventions to best support the needs, goals and preferences of each client. My approach is based on the understanding that past experiences shape how we view ourselves, relate to others, manage emotions and cope with challenges, in both conscious and unconscious ways. I view the therapeutic relationship as central to facilitating greater self-awareness, understanding and acceptance in order to bring about meaningful change.

At the core of my practice is the creation of a safe, trustworthy and judgment-free space where you will feel supported, at ease and open to acknowledging aspects of yourself which you may have been encouraged or inclined to avoid. Through in-depth discussion we will explore and develop insight into patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that may be contributing to present difficulties. We may consider how old narratives, beliefs and automatic habits no longer serve you and keep you stuck, and develop new ways of thinking about your experience and responding to life’s challenges. In turn, this offers opportunities for enhanced emotional health and coping capacity, improved relationships, more empowered choices and lasting personal growth.
